Cool Ice Cube Ideas

Hot summer days call for staying hydrated, and we’ve found some colorful ways to dress up your ice cubes to make consuming the requisite amount of water a little more fun and a lot tastier.

PUCKER UP

Combine equal parts fresh lemon juice and water; add a pinch of sugar. Pour into ice cube tray, sprinkle with lemon zest and freeze. Works great with fresh lime juice and lime zest, too!

SIMPLE SURPRISE

Place a maraschino cherry in each section of an ice cube tray, then cover with water and freeze.

MINTY FRESH

Steep mint leaves in hot water for 5 to 7 minutes, then strain (keeping the liquid) and let cool. Place fresh mint leaves in an ice cube tray and fill with the strained liquid. Freeze.

Using filtered water as your base, you can get as creative as you wish when it comes to making fancy cubes to add flavor and flair to your daily hydration routine. However, we haven’t met a person yet who drinks ONLY water, so we’re throwing these recipes your way to add some pizzazz to your other summer drink choices.

MORNING WAKE UP

Add a pinch of instant coffee or espresso to each section of an ice cube tray, then top with milk and stir until dissolved. Freeze. Great for keeping iced coffee from getting watered down!

HOT STUFF

Heat things up with a fiery ice cube. In layers, freeze prepared horseradish diluted with a little water, then hot sauce, then water with a thin jalapeno slice. Serve in a Bloody Mary.

WITH A SPLASH

Place an olive in each section of an ice cube tray, then top with water and a splash of olive brine. Serve in a martini.
