Hydration Station

Whew it’s hot out there! Are you drinking enough healthy water?

If you’ve already got a whole-house system from Healthy Water, then summer is its time to shine. You’ve got great-tasting water fresh from the tap, and your ice cubes taste great, too.

But if you don’t have a water filtration system in your house, then you might be having a tough time drinking enough water. If you don’t like the way your water tastes, then you’re probably relying on bottled water, and not only is that bad for the environment, but it’s also working against your hydration subconsciously.

Hydration Obstacles

Think about it: If you’re paying money for bottled water, then there’s probably a part of you that doesn’t want to rush through your supply, so you’re not going to drink as much. Then, when your supply runs out, you’re probably not drinking any water at all until the next time you can purchase more bottles. It’s hard enough to stay hydrated in this heat, and you’ve added even more obstacles.

How Much Water is Enough?

There are a lot of factors determining how much water your body needs on a daily basis. It depends in part on size and on your level of activity. (Check out this article by the Mayo Clinic for lots of great info.) But at a rough estimate, you should be aiming for about three liters a day, or a little less than a gallon. Definitely drink more than that if you’re exercising or working outside. Every cell in your body needs water to do its job.

Make it Easy

You know you need the water; a whole-house filtration system makes it easy. Instead of constantly buying water bottles or unhealthy, sugary bottled drinks, imagine grabbing a glass, putting some ice in it, and filling it up from the tap. Voila. Your body feels better already.

Don’t Forget Your Furry Friends

Animals need healthy water, too–especially dogs, who have to be taken outside periodically and have a tendency to be enthusiastic and get over-heated. Consider putting your freshly filtered tap water into a fountain for Fido. And if you like to take your doggo for long walks or to a dog park, a portable water bowl is a must. You can carry your own hydration station in an eco-friendly water bottle and poor some out for your furry friend to make sure they’re staying hydrated, too.
