Sarasota Water Service Without the Upsell

There are a lot of reasons to shop local small businesses whenever possible—like supporting your neighbors and keeping money in the community.

But we think that the service you get from a local company is the best reason to work with them. As a family-owned small business, Healthy Water Sarasota-Bradenton is able to offer water treatment systems, water treatment installations, system maintenance, repairs, replacements and more with a service-first philosophy. We don’t have any corporate sales quotas to meet, and we can’t hide behind a corporate hierarchy headquartered hundreds of miles away. We do not upsell.

Founders Bill and Eric Walleshauser have lived in Manatee County for more than 20 years, and we’ve been working with water treatment systems throughout Sarasota-Manatee just as long. We don’t have clients; we have neighbors. Everyone who calls us for help is our neighbor, and we want good relationships with our neighbors. After all, we’re not going anywhere.

Local Sarasota Water Treatment Service

Earlier this year, we had a great client experience that really illustrates what we mean when we talk about local small business service. (You don’t have to just take our word for it; we are so grateful to say that this client left us a five-star Google review that we really appreciated.)

These Bradenton homeowners called about the status of their water treatment system. Their property utilized well water. As we’ve said before, wells can be a great option for saving money on a water bill, but Bradenton well water contains calcium, magnesium, and sulfate—all the ingredients for problematic hard water that leaves deposits and stains on your appliances, faucets, sinks, clothes, dishes and more.

These homeowners already had a water softener and a sulfur control unit on their property. However, they suspected that those residential water treatment systems weren’t working optimally.

Home Tap Water Testing

The first thing we did for these homeowners, just as we do for every client, was test their water. Even before looking at the equipment, the water itself tells us most of the story.

In this case, we discovered that there were more of those Bradenton hard water minerals in their tap water than a water softener should have allowed. So we knew that their water softening system wasn’t doing its job.

Repair or Replace?

Then we looked at the homeowners’ actual water treatment systems. Because their water softener was more than five years old and was no longer working properly, it would have been easy to recommend a brand-new replacement system. But that just wasn’t necessary!

The water softener infrastructure was still in fine working condition. The only problem was that the resin beads, which are the media that attract and hold mineral molecules, had never been replaced. We recommended that they keep the tank for their water softener, just remove the old media and replace it with new resin beads. (In the industry, we call this “re-bedding.”) The new beads are all charged up and ready to remove those hard water minerals the way they’re supposed to.

This was the exact same case with the homeowners’ sulfur control unit: The media was old and no longer removing that eggy sulfate smell. They didn’t need a new unit, just new media!

Water Treatment System Parts and Installation

These homeowners were also suffering from faulty control valves, which control and monitor the volume of water going into the treatment systems. While the systems themselves were in great shape, the older valve units were inferior. We were able to recommend a better brand of valve unit and replace those for them as well.

Again, they didn’t need new treatment systems, just new media and a couple of relatively minor new parts.

Expert, Local, Small Business Water Treatment Service

It would be very easy to look at a water treatment system that’s more than five years old, that wasn’t working properly, and simply recommend that the homeowners buy and install a brand-new system. But that’s not what we do.

As water treatment experts, we can look at all of the different parts of a system and determine which ones are working and which ones aren’t. Then it’s just a matter of fixing the parts that need fixing and not charging you for anything else.

With Healthy Water Systems, the owners are the ones who are doing the work for you. We’re not working for some other corporate entity somewhere else. Our only goal is to provide great service to our neighbors.
